Heavy rains in north west Pakistan leave 21 dead

AFP

Four days of widespread rains across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan have left 21 killed and 32 injuries, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) confirmed.

The dead included nine children. Rescue efforts continue for the injured, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported.

The relentless downpour has also caused significant damage to infrastructure, the PDMA said.

The full extent of the damage is still being assessed, and authorities are working to provide relief and support to those affected.

The latest reported deaths follow news on Saturday that at least 14 people had been killed by lightning in Balochistan and Punjab as torrential rains battered the provinces.
