Bahrain's Ministry of Interior has announced on Thursday that four citizens were arrested for carrying out espionage activities with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science also identified a fifth suspect, who is currently outside the country.
Investigations revealed that the first arrestee used high-resolution photography equipment to photograph and record coordinates of vital and important locations in Bahrain, with the information then transmitted via an encrypted software to the IRGC.
The ministry added that legal proceedings have been taken, and the arrested individuals referred to the Public Prosecution.
