COVID-19: 40 Indian school students placed under quarantine

A school in the Indian city of Noida has shut down for two days after a parent tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the authorities, 40 students have been tested for the virus and sent to 28-day isolation.

The school will be sanitised as a precautionary measure, officials added.

The decision was taken after the person who tested positive in Delhi on March 2 had attended a birthday party last week, where several students were present.

Meanwhile, the Indian government has tightened the entry conditions for the nationals of Italy, Iran, South Korea and Japan with immediate effect.

The travellers from these countries will have to apply for fresh visas, officials added.

It comes as Pakistan reported a new coronavirus case, taking the total to five.
