A passenger bus veered off a road and plunged into a deep ravine in a mountainous region in Sri Lanka, killing 15 people and injuring 16 others.
The accident happened Thursday night near the town of Wellawaya, about 280 km east of the capital Colombo.
Police say the bus fell nearly 1,000 feet into a precipice.
An initial investigation revealed that the bus driver was speeding, lost control, collided with another vehicle, and crashed through guardrails before the fall.
