Emirates Steel is using drones for safety checks, the company has announced. The UAE’s only integrated steel plant will use the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for safety and maintenance inspections. The technology has helped the company avoid a five-day shutdown, using drones to inspect live flares. CEO of Emirates Steel, Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi said, "We are keen to adopt the latest approaches and advanced technologies to ensure reliability of our assets operations and manufacturing processes, and to achieve the highest standards of asset integrity. Emirates Steel is one of the first regional and local industrial groups that has utilised unmanned aerial vehicle in such inspections."
