Low-cost carrier Air Arabia has announced the purchase of 120 new Airbus planes in a deal worth $14 billion (over AED 51 billion).

The agreement was signed at the Dubai Airshow 2019.

The order, which includes 73 A320neo, 27 A321neo and 20 A321XLR aircraft will more than triple Air Arabia’s current fleet strength as well as support its global network expansion strategy.

Delivery is scheduled to commence in 2024, but the Sharjah-based airline has yet to specify the engines to be installed on its new fleet.

Air Arabia currently operates flights to over 170 global destinations in 50 countries from four hubs in the UAE, Morocco, and Egypt.
