The United Nations World Food Programme in the UAE needs AED 735 million to continue helping the people of Yemen. The funds will be used to provide assistance in the field of logistics and telecommunications to ease the flow of aid into the country. The group has secured AED 440 million of the AED 1.17 billion it needs to continue its operations. Nearly half of the country’s 22 governorates are said to be facing food insecurity at an ‘emergency level’. The UAE is being praised for its continuous efforts to send much needed humanitarian aid to Yemen. The director of the WFP in the UAE, Abdullah Al Wardat, says the government has assisted the organisation, making operations easier.
