Jail term awaits those who threaten public servants: UAE Public Prosecution

WAM

Anyone caught assaulting employees of the UAE public sector to carry out an "unlawful act" will face legal action, with up to one year in prison.

That's according to the Federal Public Prosecution, which posted an awareness video on their social media platforms to remind the public about the legal implications of such acts.

The authority said those caught "using force, violence or threat to force a public servant or a person entrusted with a public service to perform an unlawful act shall be punished with a jail sentence no less than one year".

According to Article 248 of the Federal Code, the penalty will be handed out even if the illegal act was not carried out.
