The UAE has helped restore a 19th-century theatre near Paris to its original glory.
The Napoleon III theatre at Fontainebleau Palace has reopened to the public after several years of refurbishment work funded by Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism.
In recognition of the Emirates’ contribution, it has been renamed as the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Theatre.
It originally opened in 1857 but was used only a dozen times before being abandoned in 1870 after the fall of Napoleon III.
