UAE’s Al Hosn app will soon follow a new COVID testing protocol for the status to turn or remain green.
A negative PCR test is required every 14 days for a fully vaccinated person's Al Hosn pass to turn green.
This new rule comes into effect on December 5 and is being implemented by The Ministry of Health and Prevention.
Authorities say that the update is a "proactive measure to enhance the efforts made at the country level" as the UAE addresses the pandemic variants, and ensures safe movement and tourism nationwide.
Abu Dhabi residents require a green status to access most public places in the capital.
The green pass rule amendment comes after the country announced its first Omicron variant detection.
Previously, fully vaccinated individuals with a negative PCR test would have a green status on the Al Hosn app for 30 days.
