Messi in the running for Ballon D'Or 2019

The Ballon D'Or ceremony will be taking place tonight in Paris.

Barcelona star Lionel Messi is the big favorite to claim the award which recognizes the best player in the world. 

If he wins, it will be the Argentinian player's record sixth time, however, his main challenger this year is Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk. 

The ceremony will commence at 8pm UAE time.
