The UAE is supporting global efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, chaired a video meeting with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and a number of UAE ambassadors to review the country’s diplomatic missions overseas.
This comes amidst ongoing efforts to alleviate the negative impact this pandemic has had on humanity's health and the economy.
In the remote meeting, Sheikh Mohammed reviewed the precautionary measures taken by the UAE’s embassies and consulates worldwide, which have been ensuring the safety of their citizens and even facilitating their safe return to the Emirates.
He also followed up on the country’s diplomatic missions abroad, where support is being offered to the global community irrespective of their race, colour, religion or political stance.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed praised the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) for supervising Emiratis' evacuation from other countries and ensuring their safe return to the UAE.
He added, “Our message to the international community: we are stronger when we are united. After this pandemic, the world will need a different kind of advanced and quick international cooperation systems.”
At the end of the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed urged ambassadors to continue providing the necessary logistical and moral support to UAE citizens and residents abroad who could not return to the country due to the recent flight suspensions.
