In a statement released on state news agency Wam, UAE Minister of State Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan affirmed the UAE’s strong condemnation of such criminal acts and reiterated the permanent rejection all forms of violence and terrorism that undermine the security and safety of a region.
The presidential convoy was targetted by the Al Shabaab group as it was travelling through the capital, Mogadishu, leaving several dead and wounded.
Sheikh Shakhboot expressed the UAE’s sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the attack, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Somali presidential adviser Zakariye Hussein later confirmed on X that the President was unharmed and was "on his way to the front lines".
