A 73-year-old Chinese woman has become the first patient in the UAE to recover from coronavirus.
According to the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), Liu Yujia was under treatment at an isolation ward since January 23.
She has "recovered fully and can carry on with life normally", the ministry confirmed in a statement to national news agency WAM.
Liu thanked the UAE authorities for the care and attention she received during her time in hospital.
The Consul General of China, Li Xuhang has also praised the country's healthcare system for helping Liu recover.
"The UAE leadership, government and people have demonstrated the true meaning of solidarity with the People's Republic of China in confronting this latest outbreak", said Li.
