UAE schools to resume in-person learning from April 20

WAM

The UAE's Ministry of Education has announced the resumption of in-person learning for all students in public and private schools starting April 20.

The authority stated that the decision follows the schools' completion of the necessary preparations, including updated safety and security procedures and training for staff in efforts to ensure a "safe and reassuring learning environment for students".

In a statement shared on social media X, the ministry added that nurseries and kindergartens will also reopen on Monday.

The authority said private schools will have the flexibility to implement the hybrid rotational model when needed, in accordance with approved regulations. It added that schools offering hybrid model will be required to organise teacher and staff assignments in a manner that is able to accommodate in-person and remote learning, and does not require them to deliver it simultaneously, the ministry noted.

The ministry also shared that educational institutions will remain prepared to transition to alternative learning modes when needed.

Following the announcement, Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) stated that private schools in Dubai will resume on-site learning based on its readiness and full compliance with health and safety measures issued by the relevant authorities.
