The next academic year in the UAE will start on August 30, as per the calendar already approved by the Ministerial Development Council.
That’s according to the Minister of Education, Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi who also confirmed that administrative and teaching staff will begin working on August 23.
"Education remains a top priority and national objective, and therefore our leadership has directed to apply the distance education system under the current circumstances so that our students won't lose track and miss one single day from their academic year," Al Hammadi added.
There is still no confirmation on whether the distance-learning programme will continue in the new academic year.
The ministry has previously said that any decision that it takes will be based on the health situation and precautionary measures recommended by the relevant authorities.
