Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced it will be upgrading its traffic signal system to be powered by AI and digital twin technology to enhance traffic flow.
The new system is expected to reduce congestion by up to 20 per cent after it is completed in the first half of 2026, the RTA said in a social media post.

The RTA says the project will "enhance traffic signal efficiency by predicting traffic analysis to dynamically optimise signal timings." The new system also enabled priority-based traffic management and uses data from future road sensors to refine signal timings.
