Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, has been awarded the Marisa Bellisario Award, one of Italy’s leading honours recognising outstanding women in leadership.
The award was presented in Rome by Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, during the 38th edition of the ceremony.
The recognition honours Al Hashimy’s contributions to diplomacy, international cooperation and global partnerships, as well as her role in strengthening relations between the UAE and Italy.
Ahead of the ceremony, Al Hashimy attended a reception hosted by Italian President Sergio Mattarella for the 2026 award recipients.
The award comes amid growing momentum in UAE-Italy relations, following President Mattarella’s State Visit to the UAE in January 2026.
Al Hashimy said she accepted the award on behalf of Emirati women, whose talent and dedication continue to support the UAE’s development and international engagement.
She added that the recognition reflects the UAE leadership’s commitment to empowering women and strengthening their role in shaping the country’s future.
The Marisa Bellisario Award has previously recognised prominent international figures including Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Nadia Murad.
