The new Emirati passport will not be in an electronic card format.
That's according to the Federal Authority for Identity and Nationality (ICA), which clarified that the images of a "passport card" being circulated on social media are fake.
The authority explained that the new design, which was earlier approved by the UAE cabinet, will be developed from the previous version with more advanced security features.
The ICA urged the public not to be misled by rumours online, and to obtain information only from official sources.
