Private early childhood centres in Dubai and Sharjah are set for a gradual return to on-site learning from Thursday April 16, starting with those in government premises and commercial buildings, subject to prior approval.

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) says the move follows the latest updates issued by the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council.

The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) also announced late on Tuesday April 14 that administrative and teaching staff in private schools and nurseries across the emirate are set to return to in-person work from Wednesday April 15.

The resumption of in-person learning is subject to KHDA and SPEA approval and in line with comprehensive safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe and supportive environment for children.

"The safety and wellbeing of students, staff, and the wider community remain the highest priority," the KHDA added.

Distance learning was first introduced on March 2 following Iran’s attacks on the UAE and other Gulf countries. The arrangement was initially set to run until March 6 before officials extended it until further notice.
