Dubai unveils Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap to improve quality of life

Dubai has unveiled a long-term plan to create a more balanced and integrated urban environment as part of efforts to enhance quality of life and wellbeing.

The 'Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030', featuring a wide portfolio of projects valued at more than AED 4 billion, has been launched by Dubai Municipality.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, reviewed the roadmap during its launch at the World Governments Summit on Wednesday.

The strategy will transform everyday life in Dubai by embedding nature into the city’s infrastructure and improving access to parks, sports facilities, coastlines and beach destinations.

It's designed to meet the evolving needs of residents, visitors and tourists, positioning green and blue spaces as a core element of the city’s long‑term growth and liveability.

Key targets include planting around 1.5 million trees over the next five years, delivering more than 45 landscaping and beautification projects, and adding 120 new parks covering nearly three million square metres.

The plan also introduces 200 integrated sports and recreational spaces, aligned with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

Beaches and waterfronts will also be reimagined as active urban assets, with more than 15 major coastal development projects and three new beach destinations set to open each year, encouraging active lifestyles and greater public access to natural spaces.

Dubai Municipality says beach facilities and services will increase by 400 per cent, public beach capacity will rise by 150 per cent, and the length of beachfront walking, jogging and cycling tracks will expand by nearly 300 per cent.
