Dubai Tram turns a year old today, having transported 3.7 million passengers since it began operating last year. Reports suggest closing the Marina loop service last month, thereby reducing headway from 12 to eight minutes, has upped the daily ridership by 15%, to about 15,000 passengers per day. Meanwhile, safety remains top priority, with more than 1,000 cameras monitoring movement inside trams and stations. The Dubai Tram runs 11 trains along the 11-km track which starts from Dubai Marina and passes through JBR, Dubai Media City, Knowledge Village, and up to the Tram Depot near the Dubai Police Academy.
