Car number plates in Dubai could soon be getting a high-tech makeover.
Authorities are trialling the introduction of theft-proof digital plates that will be able to monitor traffic congestion, log the details of trips and display alerts during emergencies.
They will also be connected with the paid parking and toll gate systems.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed an agreement with the American auto parts company Reviver, but an exact date has not been announced for the project’s rollout.
