A Qatari citizen has been killed after sustaining injuries from shrapnel due to "military operations in the area".
In a statement, Qatar Ministry of Interior said maritime search operations were carried out on Saturday night after a vessel carrying two individuals failed to return at its scheduled time.
The Maritime Search and Rescue Team located the vessel in the early hours of Sunday, with one of the individuals reported dead due to shrapnel wounds.
The other injured was moved to a hospital in a stable condition.
The ministry confirmed an investigation is currently under way into the incident.
